European Athletics Young Leader Community

Skill2Skill launched The European Athletics Young Leaders community in July 2010 and is continuing working on its development and customization.

The community is a place for Young Leaders/volunteers interested in sports and Athletics to record their volunteering hours and personal project hours in Athletics to get a recognition for their efforts, document their project, follow-up with their friends, meet new people, exchange best practices about Athletics, and network.

The community is aimed at Young Leaders/volunteers the 50 European National Federations countries. It is a very innovative project and one of the first sports communities that tracks, records and rewards volunteering activity.

Some of the modules developed by Skill2SKill include:

  • My Account:

In this module the community members publish their personal data and describe their identity.

  • My Skills:

This module allows the user to present his/her skills and work experiences.

  • My Volunteering:

Community members can enter their athletics volunteering activities and the hours volunteered in to a work log. The system automatically tracks each person's volunteering hours, volunteering hours donated to a specific organization as well as overall community hours. Rewards are given at specific milestones in hours of volunteering.

  • My Messages:

Community members can send each other internal messages. The messages can be general or project specific.

  • My Projects:

Members can add and describe their ongoing athletics projects, invite team members to join and find support in the community. The hours worked in an athletics project can also be submitted and count towards a person' overall volunteering hours.

  • Administration:

We have developed a complex administration module to manage the whole community including user administration, volunteering hours and awards, content control, blog administration and project administration.
